Hemp Shiv has many qualities which make it an excellent horse and animal bedding:
• Highly Absorbent:
Hemp Shiv has natural absorbent qualities, similar to that of a sponge. It is said to be capable of absorbing 12 times more water than straw and 4 times more than wood shavings.
• Ultra Compostable:
There is no problem with disposing of shiv bedding (unlike shavings) as it decomposes quickly into a highly fertile organic fertilizer.
• Odour Absorbing:
Hemp Shiv bedding traps smells and ammonia, you can keep a deep litter bed and still have a pleasant smelling stable for your horse.
• Ultra Low Dust Content:
Hemp Shiv raw material is thoroughly dust extracted – making it suitable bedding for horses or ponies with respiratory problems.
• Grown and Processed in the UK:
From start to finish Hemp Shiv is grown and processed in Yorkshire.
• Easy to Maintain:
All that is needed is to rake the bed daily and take out the wet bedding once a week, you can add fresh Hemp Shiv as necessary.
• Cost Effective:
Many horse owners have reported saving up to a third on the cost of bedding when they have switched to using Hemp Shiv.
• Grown Pesticide Free
Rich Yorkshire soil, rain and sunshine create the perfect growing condition to grow our hemp crop from seed using absolutely zero pesticidesor herbicides.
• Environmentally Friendly
Hemp takes just 4 months to grow and is a carbon-negative raw material.

TIP! - The quickest way to get a delivery quote is to add the desired products to your basket, go to the checkout and click "Get Delivery Estimate"
Since the National Lockdown starting 5th January, we are seeing high demand. Whilst we are managing to dispatch the vast majority of orders on time (same day dispatch for orders placed before 2pm), some orders may be dispatched a day or two later if there is a spike in demand.
To date, our couriers are coping well. DPD are still delivering the vast majority of parcels next-working-day after dispatch.
Delivery estimates are shown at the checkout. Please treat these as an estimate, not a guarantee
We aim to dispatch all orders received before 2pm the same working day (with the exception of some items that clearly show a delayed dispatch notice on the product image).
The order may also be delivered to your place of work or left in a safe place at the chosen delivery address (safe place does not require a signature but is left at the customers own risk). Please be aware all DPD orders require a signature (or a photograph during COVID-19 social distancing) upon delivery, unless requested otherwise. Delivery charges are calculated on the delivery weight that we assign to a product. This may differ from the actual weight of the product, for example, in instances where the bulky nature of the product means increased postage costs apply. If there is no one in to sign for the delivery and a safe place has not been selected a card will be left and an automatic re-delivery will be attempted the next working day. If for a second time the delivery has not been signed for a second card will be left detailing how to re-arrange delivery. If no attempt is made to re-arrange delivery, the order will returned to us. If the order is returned to us after the second card attempt we will incur a charge which may be passed on to the customer.
