Baileys Outshine is an extruded nugget that combines oils from soya and linseed with supporting nutrients, including important anti-oxidants, plus super fibres and Digest Plus prebiotic to produce a high oil supplement which can be fed to promote weight gain or stamina or simply outstanding coat shine. Soya oil is rich in Omega 6 fatty acids whilst linseed is an excellent source of Omega 3 so Baileys Outshine combines them both to give an optimum balance and avoiding the risk of an imbalance from feeding straight soya oil or boiled linseed.
Oil is a concentrated source of slow release energy however the more oil that is included in the diet, the more antioxidants the body requires to deal with the free radicals produced during its metabolism. Outshine contains additional anti-oxidants in the form of vitamins E and C, as well as selenium and zinc, to support the safe and efficient utilisation of the oil by the body. Its extruded formula mixes well with compound feeds and straights alike, is appetising and easy to handle. Fed in small quantities Outshine is particularly useful for increasing the non-heating calorie content of the horse’s diet without significantly increasing the volume fed.
Further information on the benefits of oil and choosing the right oil sources
Oil is said to have a “glycogen sparing” effect, since it is used by the horse’s muscles at low work intensities allowing glycogen (stored muscle fuel) to be saved for the muscles during more intense work. This helps to improve stamina as well as the horse’s ability to recover after a hard workout or competition, as his body’s energy reserves are not completely depleted. Up to just 1.3kg/3lb per day, added to the existing balanced diet will provide additional slow release calories for improved stamina.
For those whose appetites are really limited, top up the recommended quantity of a specially formulated conditioning feed with up to 1.3kg/3lb of Outshine, to provide non-heating calories in a small volume. Its excellent quality protein helps build outstanding muscle tone and top line whilst Digest Plus prebiotic helps promote gut efficiency.
Research has shown that horses with muscle-related problems, such as tying up (ERS) or polysaccharide storage myopathy (PSSM), benefit from a reduction of starch in their diet. In the case of PSSM all mixes and cereals should be removed. Outshine can be used to replace some or all of the cereals in the diet and, its inclusion of super fibres from soya hulls and sugar beet further helps to keep the overall starch content of the diet down. Its antioxidant content also helps protect muscle cell membranes. If you are considering feeding Outshine to a horse with a muscle-related problem like tying up, we’d recommend contacting our team of nutritionists for advice on what to feed alongside it.
Outshine is useful for providing non-heating calories whilst helping to keep the starch content of the diet to a minimum, something which is important for those who need to gain weight but are prone to laminitis. Please contact one of our nutritionists if you are considering using Outshine for this purpose, as feeding rates will vary according to individual circumstances.
Outshine is ideal for feeding all year round to produce a lovely healthy gloss on your horse’s coat. Just ½ lb per day, added to a balanced diet, is sufficient and is especially useful when coats change in the spring and autumn to help make sure your horse stays in winning form.

Royal Mail strike action is having a serious impact on delivery times both with Royal Mail and other couriers. Other couriers are struggling with increased volumes as customers switch to them from Royal Mail.
DPD are temporarily suspending shipments to areas where they have large backlogs in order to clear them before taking on more parcels. For DPD orders, we will try to book your delivery with DPD in the first instance. If we are unable to, we will try to book an alternative courier. If we are unable to find a courier for your order, we will cancel and refund your order and let you know via email.
We expect services to return to normal shortly after the Christmas period.
TIP! - The quickest way to get a delivery quote is to add the desired products to your basket, go to the checkout and click "Get Delivery Estimate"
We aim to dispatch all orders received before 2pm the same working day (with the exception of some items that clearly show a delayed dispatch notice on the product image).
The order may also be delivered to your place of work or left in a safe place at the chosen delivery address (safe place does not require a signature but is left at the customers own risk). Please be aware all DPD orders require a signature (or a photograph during COVID-19 social distancing) upon delivery, unless requested otherwise. Delivery charges are calculated on the delivery weight that we assign to a product. This may differ from the actual weight of the product, for example, in instances where the bulky nature of the product means increased postage costs apply. If there is no one in to sign for the delivery and a safe place has not been selected a card will be left and an automatic re-delivery will be attempted the next working day. If for a second time the delivery has not been signed for a second card will be left detailing how to re-arrange delivery. If no attempt is made to re-arrange delivery, the order will returned to us. If the order is returned to us after the second card attempt we will incur a charge which may be passed on to the customer.
